  • The red-and-blue striped rugby shirts with the silver or pale blue collars that my cast of ZOOMers wore were specially-made for the show and unavailable to the public. I took mine home at the end of my run on the show and I still have it. I lost weight after being on the show (remember, I was the token chubby kid) so it still fits me over thirty years later! (sort of)

I also have this unique Baseball Cap which was given to me by a member of the technical crew on the current incarnation of the show. He had come into the sign-and-print shop where I work (which is, interestingly, right near WGBH) and he recognized me. After talking for a while and making an order he left, only to return in a few minutes with this cap.

I've never seen another like it, with the 70's-style logo embroidered on the front and a reference to the catchy jingle which was part of every show, encouraging the audience to address their ideas and questions to: "Box 350, Boston, Mass., 0-2-1-3-4 - Send it to ZOOM!"

It was especially nice to get this because when I was on the show I wore a black Greek fisherman's cap. I had worn it for years before that and throughout the audition process, but a couple associate producers felt that I shouldn't wear it on-air because no one else had a cap and it made me too much of an "individual". Fortunately, the creator/executive producer of the show said, "No, I think it will be fine" and the cap instantly became my ZOOMhat. Unfortunately, the original hat fell apart decades ago and was thrown out, but this cap is a good replacement.
